A Message from our COO, Bryn Brutosky…

THIS IS OUR HOME

Between seeing the first Greenville snow in several years, the inauguration of a new but familiar president, the cold snap this week and the unimaginable losses of property and life in California and in NC, it’s a challenge to set the tone for our first newsletter. Because we are inherently optimistic, we maintain hope in our ability to come alongside the hurting in their hours of need, and respectful that our fellow citizens on both the west coast as well as in NC will need long-term attention as they decide to either rebuild or relocate.

We have had quite a number of our clients come from the west coast the last two decades and we suspect there could be more as decisions are made on where to put down their roots and find safety for the future. What our whole team loves about the Upstate is the openness to welcome people from all parts of the country and to find things in common despite any differences.

It’s no mystery that when homes were lost in the hardest hit areas the past months, the neighbors helping each other with “boots on the ground”, and even strangers doing anything possible to lighten the load of those who lost every worldly thing, proved that THAT is what makes a home, even when the physical house is gone.

You chose to build in the Carolina’s, known for hard work, kindness, and gentility, many after research and some by just “getting the feeling” there was a difference here. We believe that the relationships in your neighborhood, in the clubs, and in your small social groups are the real reason your house and your community feel like home to you. We’re sure there is room for more and that you’ll welcome the newcomers just as you were once welcomed. There is so much goodwill to be shared!

We strive to build, with integrity, the best home your hard-earned resources can buy, with your lifestyle in mind. It’s a privilege to be trusted with your dreams and future plans. Though the best part for us isn’t the home itself, but the relationships we build, and to call so many of you, our friends.

So, we look forward to bringing you Newsletter stories and features that not only inform you, but also may encourage you. We feel so blessed to be a part of this very special community, and we hope it shows!

MONTHLY MAINTENANCE TIPS

MAINTENANCE TIP #1

Before the ground thaws enough to signal spring, Jan and Feb are great months to trim your fall blooming bushes and get your roses cut back so you don’t harm new growth by waiting for warm weather. Of course, after cutting them cover up the roses with mulch or pine straw if you see temps will dip again.

MAINTENANCE TIP #2

In the Carolina’s, January is about as cold as you’re going to find. ‘Blue Ridge Electric’ has a new incentive for their customers wherein they will write off 50% of your highest month’s utility bill in a given year! This could be a great savings for a January or July bill, so take a look at your records as the months progress!  ‘Blue Ridge’ also offers a $100 rebate for installing one of their smart thermostats.
